powderful.
i logged in to nuffnang the other day, and found a google search leading to my blog, with the search word "OMGCD"
and it led whoever who googled it, to this post
*click*
i laughed like hell lorh when i read that post.
i mean it ain't some award-winning-essay -like-thing, but i think it's worth at LEAST a mini tiny teeny giggle.
no?
so see?
i created the abbreviation OMGCD Oh My Gawd Can Die
and now it's a copyright belonging to yours truly, and whoever who uses it must quote me ok!!!
although, someone did google it up..
which means someone did use it..
but it's ok, ppl can't help it if they're ignorant now, can they?
HAHAHAHA!!
it's been patented, and if i want, i can sue your asses off.
BWAHAHHA!!
ok, now back to reality.
i figure mozilla is pretty crap with xanga.
i made changes on my layout wih mozilla, and they turned out to be temporary changes.
first it looks like how i want it to, then after i save it, it returns to it's old normal self. -_-"
so whatever lah..pretty sick of playing around with the layout.
if you're using mozilla, get IE i apologize for the weird layout.. butsowhatyoucanstillreadwattttt.

was randomly blog-reading about, and at least four ppl mentioned their endless desire of purchasing the "i'm not a plastic bag" bag
....
...
i thought the whole idea of it is dead stupid.
ok. so now the story behind the bags.
well, see..
san francisco and a few other places decided to ban the use of plastic bags, obviously due to environmental issues.
and i think that's a pretty reasonable claim.
so some lady called anya hindmarch decides to design a bag to make big stupid money in supports of that claim.
meet the bag:
it's a limited edition "eco" bag, and is worth $5 each.
however, you're only entitled to the purchase of two of these bags. no more.
just two.
so when they ran out of the original copies, ppl started hacking up the prices by selling each original-previously-purchased bag for about $200 on eBay for a quick buck or two.
madness.
and you know, i was thinking about it.
the bags were meant to decrease or stop the usage of plastic bags..
but how does selling LIMITED edition eco bags help when you want EVERYONE to stop using those damned plastic bags? and why two per person??

If you were planning on decreasing the usage of plastic bags, wouldn't you need more of these bags so that everyone CAN purchase a bag at least, enabling all of them to participate in this environmental "campaign" causing countless number of plastic bags to be reduced, instead of the measly few bags that they're selling?
and wouldn't it make more sense if there was no two bag perperson limit?
why not mass produce, sell them all for dirt cheap, and then let the ppl buy how ever many they want so that they can distribute it amongst their friends, and by doing so reach out to more ppl????? and the bags are pretty nice, so i bet you no one would mind using them if they were free.
heck, this way is damn good la for all those stingy ppl out there, stingy ppl whom die die oso won't buy any eco grocery bag and would just rely on em' plastic bags.
so seee???by un-limiting the number of bags, you'd be targetting a WIDER range of ppl, ranging from rich to poor, whilst enabling MORE ppl to participate. objective achieved!!
so if they really had any intentions at all to help the environment, wouldn't they have gone by my proposed plan?
okok..assuming i'm wrong..
soo....
yes, you may say that it's part of their strategy, because ppl just LOVEEEEE buying limited copies of whatever, you name it, bag, shoes, keychains, handphones, toys, ladidadida..
and as long as they see the LIMITED EDITION, ppl go googoogaga.
which is why by limiting the numbers, ppl WOULD actually buy them, instead of mass producing and letting the extras go to waste. and by mass producing, it becomes a common item.
and assuming that a new batch of "i'm not a plastic bag" bags will be released, those whom failed to purchase the earlier edition would definitely chew up this part of the scheme and waste 0.1% of total life time waiting in queue, justttt so that they get the latest LIMITED edition.
fine fine, give them the benefit of the doubt. lets "pretend" that it really is for the good of the world...
but what i think has gone wrong, is that the people of the world have used this to their OWN advantage by selling them off for more than 10 times the price, knowing that there are desperados out there whom would willingly trade their lives for this bloody bag.
the ppl who are crazy about the bags are also at wrong because THEY only want it for self use.
and i BET you...
close to 90% of the ppl whom bought the bags are NOT using them to REPLACE plastic bags (eg while grocery shopping) but are using them instead as your other normal everyday bags.
you think what..
buy the bag for soooooo expensive on ebay must auction auction auction then so expensive only can buy..and u want me to put my smelly fish inside ah?? LU KANASAI LAH!
somemore somemore..if i put all my groceries inside..i won't look cool already lohh..
how to look cool if i carry big fat bag with fish and meat and milk and long vege leaves and beef and pork and whatever else i have planned for the rest of the week??somemore i think horr..my leaves will stick out of the bag lohhh..so ppl may think i crazy lehhhh ..LU SIAO LAH!!
i must as well carry it to uni or to work or to college or to shopping malls..coz hor..i think this bag quite nice. and it's limited osho!!! yayyyy!!! OOO me love saving treesss?!????seeeeee??my bag horr..it says that it's not a plastic bag lehhhhh..kawaiiiii deeesssssss!!!
...
-_-"
which would mean it is more of a fashion statement now, instead of a statement to save the environment.
*tskk*
people are horrible in the way they distort things out of hand.
what was meant to save the environment is only expanding the fashion industry.
what was supposed to be a life-saving (for the environment. for us.) scheme, has now become a money-making one.
what was only going for $5 is now $200.
wth.
hmph..and don't give me bullshit that by spending $200 on that bag, it's so damn bloody worth it, coz in the long run, it's gonna save me alllllll the plastic bags that i WAS supposed to use.
HOH!
if you wanted to save the environment my dear, you could have in other ways.
hmmm...plastic baskets?? and btw, they DO have other eco bags around as well my dear. any pretty nice at that too!!
i thought it was damn cool the way almost EVERYONE in aussie used eco bags while shopping.
they were cheap, and very very lasting.
they were conventional and practical and straight to the point - save the environment.
that's all there was to it.
i found this quote from this website here *click* (which is where the story is from)
"If the person who uses the bag is shallow and driven by fashion, it still helps the planet because they haven't used a plastic one." (Arnold, 2007)
what a lame cover up.
honestly, what I think will happen, is that they'll buy whatever it is they're buying in plastic bags, and put them in the bag itself.
eiter that, or they'll just use this bag as a large-handbag-sorta-thing, and go around carrying plastic bags in their hands, filled with their purchases of the day.
SO unless you tell me that ppl DO use plastic bags as handbags and are now using the "i'm not a plastic bag" bag to replace the plastic handbag, i'd give mr. Arnold a good pat on his back and say "good job, mate!"
which is unfortunately not the case.
they aren't "helping the planet"
they're just being fashion-conscious.
and honestly,
the bag IS nice.
but nowhere worth $200.
bah.
disgusted.
